Sergey Kornilenko: reaching 50-goal mark is not the limit for me

Forward of our team Sergey Kornilenko scored his anniversary 50th goal for Krylia Sovetov in the match of the 34th tour of FONBET FNL Championship. Thus, the Belarusian player is ranked the 2nd scorer of the Samara team in Russian history, second only to Andrey Karyaka (56 goals) in the number of goals scored. Sergey Kornilenko shared his thoughts about this event for www.KC-CAMAPA.ru:

“In 7 years Samara has become a home for me, and Krylia Sovetov is the main team in my career. Having moved here from Blackpool Football Club, I didn't think the things would go in that way. Krylia Sovetov is a team with a great history and an army of fans, it has always motivated to give our best in each match and bring the club maximum benefit both on the pitch and beyond. It is in large part owing to the support of fans that I’ve managed to achieve a lot, it is important for me. I wish to sincerely thank them for that. Reaching 50-goal mark is very pleasant, but it is not the limit for me. I feel calm about the statistics and wish to play for a couple of years more (smiling). If I now remember the most memorable goals... This is probably a goal scored to Dynamo in 2011 at the Metallurg stadium during heavy rainfall and a brace in the away match vs. Zenit in August 2015. After those goals I experienced the strongest emotions.

Now the main goal for our team is to reach the Premier League. To be honest, I’m thinking only about this now. I can say with confidence that the opening of a new stadium in Samara is an event that we are all waiting impatiently for, it will add to our emotions and help us in fulfilling the most important task. Krylia Sovetov should play in the Premier League at such a beautiful arena. The supporters of our team have deserved it."
